Reviews about Ark Porcelain Refinishing

  • March 18, 2020, by Robert Shamrock
Best in the business, hands down. My company uses ARK to refinishing the bathtubs in our high-rise rentals. In the 14 years I've used them, I've never been let down.

Hopefully, I am giving Ark a one-star review temporarily. They refinished my tub on a Friday. On the following Tuesday, they came back to caulk and removed the masking paper left to protect the tub. We were told we could not use the tub for a week from the initial visit. After they left on Tuesday, we went about cleaning the bathroom. We found hardened overspray from the nearby walls and toilet up to the light switches and a fine white dust covering virtually every horizontal surface. We cleaned these. On Friday, the day we were able to clean and use the tub, we discovered two major flaws in the finish - a deep quarter-sized indentation in the finish at the bottom of the tub and a 4"x6" patch of "orange-peel" texture on the side. The tub was also peppered with many small bits of porcelain debris that further marred the finish. When we called to report the problems (twice, our first call was not returned) we were told that we would have to wait until the finish was cured (three more weeks) for the fix. We were assured that it would be simple to wet sand the debris and orange peeling and fill the indentation. We were also told that the installer, who we later learned was the owner of the company, would be instructed to better mask his work in the future to eliminate the overspray problems. It has been two weeks since the tub was originally refinished and we are hoping that Ark will honor their promises. We have already paid $465 for the refinishing, plus a $95 "stripping fee" to remove the previous finish, plus a $80 fee for the re-caulking.
